Our first StoryWalk®

The Hart Cluett Museum is excited to present our first StoryWalk®!

Have you strolled around Downtown Troy lately? With the weather warming up it’s a great time to explore the city and get some fresh air! Maybe bring an umbrella or raincoat along, just in case.

As you pass by the museum on Second Street, we invite you to read the book V is for Voting by Kate Farrell. This story explores the role citizens play in government and introduces young readers to some incredible historic figures. Readers of all ages can learn about the importance of voting and the ongoing fight for civil rights! Why do we vote? Who has been denied the right to vote in American history? How have citizens created change?

Our upcoming exhibit, We the People: Voting and Democracy in Rensselaer County, (opening March 29!) will take a closer look at these questions as they connect to our community.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. The Hart Cluett Museum is proud to be one of the many places around the world participating in this project! Our aim is to promote reading and encourage people to enjoy the outdoors. You can learn more about the StoryWalk® Project on the Kellogg-Hubbard Library’s website: https://www.kellogghubbard.org/storywalk.

V is for Voting will be on display outside of the Hart Cluett Museum through the Spring. This book is also available to be checked out from the Troy Public Library!
