Volunteer

As a primarily volunteer-driven nonprofit organization, the Hart Cluett Museum (HCM) is always looking for energetic, dedicated volunteers to help us with our mission of recognizing every face and every story. Individuals willing to make a long-term commitment are of particular interest but we also need help with single events. Volunteer orientations are held periodically, but we accept applications year-round. Please see below for descriptions of the current available positions.

To apply, please fill out the appropriate form. After we review your application, we will contact you within 3 weeks about the next steps.

Special Events Volunteer

HCM hosts and participates in a wide variety of events throughout the year, including Troy Night Out, summer deck parties, and family programs. We also present the very popular Holiday Greens Show. Special Events volunteers assist with set-up and service during events and help staff ensure everything runs smoothly. Events are often in the evening, however there are daytime events as well.

Library Volunteer

We are seeking long-term volunteers to help patrons and catalog collections in the Research Library for 3+ hours/week. We accept volunteers with any experience level. Our staff will help volunteers learn the skills and systems to be successful. Volunteers may work independently or beside staff and other volunteers, giving the opportunity to meet new friends and mentors alike!

Reception Desk volunteer

Are you a people person? Be the face of the Hart Cluett Museum at the reception desk! Reception Desk volunteers greet visitors, introduce them to the exhibits, direct individuals to the research library, collect fees, answer the phone, and help answer basic questions. Volunteers may also help with the gift shop or other clerical tasks. HCM is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Noon - 5pm, though volunteer hours are flexible.
