New! Bakery Walking Tour and Talk with Amy Halloran

Come to the museum on Thursday, July 17th for a two-part talk on mapping bakeries in Troy. Beginning with a tour of a house that was a small bakery for nearly a century, we’ll reconvene at HCM for a discussion of the big and small bakeries of Troy.

AMY HALLORAN spent her teenage years prowling the ghost town that was Troy in the 1980s. The first manager of the Troy Waterfront Farmers' Market, she ran the food pantry and community meals program at Unity House. Her love for food, and for the people who grow and make it, led her to write a book about the revival of regional grain production, The New Bread Basket. She is working on a book about history: her own, her city's, and that of bread baking in Troy and America.

Before registering, please note the following:

·       Ticket purchase is required beforehand.

·       This tour will leave AND end at the Hart Cluett Museum, 57 Second Street Troy, NY.

·       Tours take place rain or shine. The tour experience includes walking several blocks on city streets with uneven sidewalks. Walking shoes and weather-appropriate attire are advised.

·       The Hart Cluett Museum provides all walking tour participants with headsets, allowing each visitor to listen to the tour guide at their preferred volume. Please note that while you may use or bring your own earpieces/earbuds, single use earpieces will also be provided by the Hart Cluett Museum at time of tour.

Cancellation Policy as of April 28, 2024:
Refunds or exchanges for ticketed tours and programs must be requested no fewer than 5 days prior to the program date. A $2.30 processing fee per ticket will be charged for refunds.
