Experience history first-hand with a visit from Historic Interpreter Phyllis Chapman of Vintage Visitor Presentations, with her performance as Nellie Bly, “the stunt girl reporter” in Out of the Gilded Cage: Ladies of the Gilded Age.
Women of the Gilded age were rich enough not to have a care in the world- but care, they did. Far from being solely concerned with fashion and parties, many Gilded Age socialites of the late 19th and early 20th century broke out of the “cage” of propriety to become businesswomen, civic leaders, philanthropists, and, of course, suffragists. Hear from “Nellie Bly”, the stunt girl reporter for the New York World, the stories of some remarkable ladies who not only made life better for themselves, but many others.
Tickets are 20 dollars per attendee.
